We drove 12k+ miles across 10 states and visited 15 national park sites in the 6 months we’ve lived in our RV! We returned to our home base in Seattle last week. We’ll be here for several weeks looking after my 98 year old grandmother while my parents go off on their own RV adventure, and visiting other friends and family before we head out again. There’s still a lot to share from our last trip, and more to come as we prepare for the next one. Visit the “Our Travels” page to see everywhere we went!
We had high winds while driving between Tulsa and Abilene, and suddenly heard what sounded like marbles spilling on the floor. We pulled over but couldn’t see anything wrong, plus we don’t have any marbles, so we continued driving while discussing whether the sound originated from inside or outside the RV. A few minutes later we pulled over again and put up our collapsible ladder to check the roof, where Beau immediately saw the problem. We went back to where we heard the sound and managed to locate the solar panel behind some barbed wire in a field of cows 🐮 We had planned to upgrade our solar anyway, but now probably sooner rather than later!
In Oklahoma we visited the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa and stayed at the Keystone Dam, just the one night in Oklahoma before heading back to Texas.
While in Fort Smith visiting family we drove up to Bentonville to see the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Frank Lloyd Wright Bachman-Wilson House. Fort Smith was our last stop before heading west again, we have to be back in Seattle by April 11 and there’s still so much to see!
We visited more National Park sites in Arkansas than any other state we’ve visited so far: 1. President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home 2. Little Rock Central High School 3. Hot Springs and 4. Fort Smith!
Hug the ones you love! We were on our way from Abilene to Amarillo on Monday when we got the call everyone dreads, a loved one was headed to the hospital. We immediately turned the RV in their direction, driving 22 hours total that day. It’s been good to be here and thankfully they are on the mend ❤️🩹
On our RV adventure we’ve been able to stop and visit with friends and family along the way, some of them we haven’t seen in ages. We appreciate all they’ve done for us with space, electricity, water, meals, mail services, etc., but mostly we’re grateful for the time spent together 🥰
Lake Catherine State Park and Hot Springs National Park in AR
We tend to not stay in one place too long, just a night or two and then on to the next place. It makes us want to maximize our time, see what we can as quick as we can. But also, sometimes we just need a day to rest. All of the hot springs here are too hot to touch, so the only way to enjoy them is at one of the bathhouses, which were all booked up and at capacity while we were there. Instead we enjoyed a short hike, stopped by the national park visitor center, and ate some pizza at the Grateful Head before moving on to the next place.
Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas is the only diamond mine in the world where the public can dig for diamonds, and keep what they find! 💎 Although diamonds are often found there, it’s not as easy as it looks. We didn’t find any, but we did have fun digging in the dirt and mud!
He loves me 🥰
